[Railroad Economy News = Reporter Jang Byeong-geuk] The LS Electric consortium is expected to be in charge of the train control system for the high-speed railway directly connected to the KTX line departing from Suwon and Incheon.
According to the industry on the 5th, on the 28th of last month, the National Railroad Authority disclosed the results of successful bids for two train control system purchase and installation projects for the KTX from Incheon and KTX from Suwon projects.
In this project, LS Electric supplies and installs the automatic train control system (ATC), and STraffic supplies and installs the interlocking device (IXL). The business scale is about 27 billion won for the KTX project from Incheon and about 35 billion won for the KTX project from Suwon.
An industry official said, "The KTX train control system project from Incheon and KTX from Suwon is currently in progress through a negotiated contract. Although the LS Electric consortium was selected as the successful bidder, there is still a technical negotiation stage remaining, and the scope of the task is being determined in the actual negotiation process." “The project amount may be adjusted,” he explained.
The KTX direct connection project from Incheon is a project to build a new 6.2km railway directly connecting Eocheon Station on the Suin Bundang Line to the Gyeongbu High-Speed Line. If this direct line is created, high-speed trains can run from Songdo Station to the Gyeongbu Express Line via Choji and Eocheon Station.
The Suwon to KTX direct connection project is a project to build a 9.45km connecting line between Seojeong-ri Station on the Gyeongbu Line and Jije Station on the Suseo High-Speed Railway. You can access the Suseo High-Speed Railroad directly from Suwon Station on the Gyeongbu Line via Seojeong-ri Station.
ATC ground devices must be compatible with on-board devices of high-speed trains such as KTX and SRT that operate on the Gyeongbu and Suseo high-speed lines.
An industry official said, "In the case of the Suwon KTX project, the Dongtan Station electronic interlocking system (SSI) is managed up to the present day, so work on upgrading it to a new model is included."
He said, “The train control system currently used in the two high-speed lines will also be applied to the KTX direct connection project from Suwon and Incheon.”
Meanwhile, as of the end of last month, the overall progress rate for the KTX project from Suwon was 35.6%, and the KTX project from Incheon was 20.9%. Both routes are undergoing roadbed construction.
