Introduction
As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing public transportation infrastructure, our company has been entrusted with the deployment of faregate systems across 16 key metro stations in Los Angeles. This initiative supports the city's broader goals of improving passenger flow, increasing fare compliance, and modernizing transit access. Notably, the North Entrance of Vermont/Santa Monica Station and the Main Entrance of Wilshire/Vermont Station have officially opened, marking significant milestones in the phased rollout.
Challenges
The project presented several logistical and technical challenges. Coordinating with multiple stakeholders—including city transit authorities, station operators, and equipment suppliers—required precise planning and communication. Each station had unique architectural constraints and operational requirements, demanding tailored engineering solutions. Additionally, the phased nature of the openings meant that installation timelines had to be flexible yet efficient, ensuring minimal disruption to daily commuters.
Solution
Our team delivered a comprehensive faregate solution that included both full installation and equipment supply. For 10 stations—including Lake, Wilshire/Vermont, Firestone, Vermont/Santa Monica, Pershing Square, Hollywood/Western, 7th Street/Metro Center, North Hollywood, Westlake MacArthur Park, and Willowbrook/Rosa Parks—we provided end-to-end deployment services. For the remaining 6 stations, we supplied high-performance faregate equipment designed for seamless integration. Each system was customized to meet the station’s specific needs, with a focus on durability, accessibility, and user experience.
Result
The successful opening of the North Entrance at Vermont/Santa Monica and the Main Entrance at Wilshire/Vermont demonstrates the effectiveness of our approach. With faregates now operational at key locations, passengers benefit from improved station security and streamlined entry. Our work has contributed to a more efficient and modernized transit environment, supporting the city’s long-term vision for smart mobility. The project continues to progress on schedule, with future station openings anticipated in the coming months.
