Over the past two years, the MTA has implemented various strategic measures to reduce fare evasion, focusing on equity, education, enforcement, and environment. Four companies—Conduent, Cubic, Scheidt & Bachmann, and STraffic—have been selected to test new fare evasion gates at 20 stations. These efforts have led to increased fare revenue, reaching $5 billion in 2024, up by $322 million from 2023.
