The MTA is set to install new, advanced fare evasion gates at 20 subway stations this fall. These gates are designed to prevent fare evasion with features like tall glass paddles and advanced object detection technology. Four companies—Conduent, Cubic, Scheidt & Bachmann, and STraffic—will each test their gate models at five stations. This initiative aims to reduce fare evasion, which costs the MTA up to $800 million annually.
