SOSLAB Signs Exclusive Supply Agreement with STraffic

SOSLAB, a leading LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) company, announced on the 23rd that it has signed an exclusive supply Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with traffic solution specialist STraffic for LiDAR sensors for smart tolling systems.

The smart tolling system is a next-generation toll payment method in the transportation and infrastructure industry, allowing all vehicles to pay tolls without stopping, regardless of whether they have a Hi-Pass device installed. By using both cameras and LiDAR, the system recognizes vehicle license plates, enabling automatic toll payment for both Hi-Pass users and non-users who register their payment methods.

STraffic is currently promoting a domestic smart tolling system construction project and has been conducting demonstration work at locations such as Gwangan Bridge using SOSLAB's new 3D fixed LiDAR 'ML-X' since last year. The company explains that ML-X has excellent advantages in performance, reliability, maintenance convenience, and price competitiveness compared to foreign LiDARs.

Through this agreement, SOSLAB will exclusively supply the LiDAR sensors needed for the construction of the smart tolling system to STraffic, aiming to complete all tests for product verification by March and sign the main contract within the year.

A representative from SOSLAB stated, "ESTraffic is widely promoting the status of 'K-transportation' new technology not only in Korea but also in global markets such as the United States, India, and Southeast Asia. We will expand cooperation opportunities in various transportation infrastructure fields, including the export of smart tolling systems and C-ITS (next-generation intelligent transportation systems)."
